The Tourist

Before joining up with Oak Tree Press, David Coles- my co-author -and I had a book in waiting with Virtual Tales. They had held it for almost three years and it was due out in May 2011 one week after VT folded. We considered offering it to OTP but truthfully we felt we had waited long enough also it exceeded OTP's word length. It is now coming out next week in both eBook and paperback with Acclaimed Books and I thought it might appeal to a goodly few of our fellows because the protagonist is a brain damaged American special forces soldier who, having been fed with false memories as a sort of rock-goes on the rampage in England.
If anyone would like to review it my e-mail is jack.everett@lineone.net  : give me a call if you have an e-reader or don't mind reading it on your computer.
Thanks a lot,

Some thing to blog about.

My latest book was submitted to an offshoot of Random you know who and mulled over for months by an editor before I received a reply. I mean it wasn't as if I had never written before this was my fifth novel on paper plus three more as ebooks. She-I always seem to get a women- said I love your book but I think you have got the chronography wrong. Would you be prepared to do something about it? Well as I hadn't got much to do other than re-write books I agreed and spent a month or so changing the order of the chapters, removing parts of my writing and generally tidying things up in the process. I then sent it back with high hopes.
Yes I can see where you have done the work, she eventually replied after another month or so, but I still think the ms is too long do you think you could take 10,000 words out of it?
Ten thousand my mind screamed, how do I remove that many words without destroying the whole substance of the plot? But I agreed to try and spent another anguished month removing words one at a time.
This time she came back to me within a week saying it was quite good but she felt I should remove several of the characters that were not necessary to the storyline.
It was at this point that I flipped. I reasoned that I had done everything I could to please but to remove characters that I had invented with love and polished away at until they shone was too much I took the ms back, thanked her for her time and sent it somewhere else where it was accepted in weeks with a promise to publish before the year was out because of the up to the minute nature of the story.
Just after it was due out the recession hit and the promised publishing date was put back then the publishers folded.
I was starting to believe I was cursed but I submitted it to another person on recommendation and have been given a date of September 2010, of course it hasn't happened yet but I have high hopes. The novel is called 1/1:Jihad-Britain and is being published by Acclaimed Books. In my next blog I will tell you about it.
